Did you know Cask ‘n Flask Liquors is the place in the South Bay to go seek out new and hard-to-find craft beer? I didn’t, until I started researching them and read this over and over in reviews of the store. This little liquor store has the strangest little sign from the 70s. What do you think the inspiration behind this sign might be?
Is it simply an art-deco-ish shaped sign? Or, is it a fountain?
Maybe it’s a robin-blue Easter Egg?
Your guess is as good as mine. (Unless you happen to know the story behind the sign, in which case I’d love to hear from you!)
Note:Brad Mosby writes “The design matched that of the old hacienda shopping plaza on Foxworthy and Meridian. It’s the remains of the same designer or development project.” Now I’m on the lookout for old photographs of the Hacienda that show architectural elements like this. Thank Brad!

I sketched it a little while ago,but haven’t got around to blogging it. Thank you for the link to the piece. Sad to see yet another bay Area institution go! The piece mentions the Chiaramonte’s Deli & Sausages, which I have yet to sketch!Thank you so much, Carmela!

Thank you Brad! I’ll have to look up photographs of the Old Hacienda Plaza and see how this echoes the architecture.
