I’ve never seen the sign for The Bold Knight with the name still on it (except in photographs). According to Mercury News, Louis Pappas opened the first Bold Knight on Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale in 1964. He opened a second restaurant by the same name in 1968 on Monterey Road in San Jose. The restaurant closed in 2007.  Pigeons roost in what is left of the gutted sign.

When I last went back for one more sketch (below) the lot that the sign stands on had been fenced off and bulldozers were at work on the plot. I wonder if the part of the sign that still remains will be saved or whether all that remains will be photographs ( and sketches) of it.
