Time Deli has stood at the corner of San Carlos and West Bascom since the 50s. And their famous tri-tip sandwich is still available everyday ( I had one last week). But if you want their barbecue, come in on a Friday.
Time was originally owned by the Carlino family and was a market that sold produce, fresh meats and gourmet grocery items. Here’s a great photo of the market as it looked inthe 70s. (Photo courtesy samsbbq.com)
While the deli no longer has those great cow and fish signs, it still has the clock which keeps time.
Location:
349 S Bascom Ave.
Great sketches. I used to grocery shopping there. In that same center was a bank. I think bank of America. Across the street was a car dealership. That building faced the corner at an angle like the Time market. I will have to check out the delivery next time I visit San jose.
that’s really interesting to know, Nancy. No bank now, but the Car Dearlership is still there…
